In this live and interactive CME-certified program, an expert faculty panel will discuss the decision-making process for selecting the optimal PI-based regimen for patients in clinical scenarios spanning the treatment spectrum.
Registration for this activity is open to physicians and healthcare professionals actively involved in the delivery of care to HIV-infected patients. Other restrictions may apply.
Program Overview
You are invited to a live CME-certified program in which an expert faculty panel will explore how recent advances in the PI class may affect treatment decisions in patients with varying levels of antiretroviral experience with input from those in attendance using audience response technology.
Purpose
The purpose of this activity is to equip participants to make evidence-based decisions that incorporate the latest findings from rigorous clinical studies when selecting PI-containing regimens for treatment-naive, moderately treatment-experienced, and highly treatment-experienced HIV-infected patients.
Target Audience
This activity is intended for physicians, registered nurses, and other healthcare professionals responsible for the antiretroviral management of HIV-infected patients.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
-
Summarize the findings from recent studies of PI-containing regimens in HIV-infected patients across the treatment spectrum
-
Recount considerations that influence the choice between available PIs in treatment-naive patients, including efficacy, tolerability, and the consequences of virologic failure
-
Discuss the evidence-based choice of a new PI in moderately treatment-experienced patients
-
Describe the role of PIs in combination with other active agents, including novel antiretrovirals, when constructing new regimens for extensively pretreated patients
